Priscilla M. "Sil" Strang's Obituary
Priscilla M. “Sil” Strang, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 10, 1929, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Joseph and Marie (Spieer) Halderson, Sil remained a lifelong resident of the city she loved. She was a proud graduate of Muskegon High School, Class of 1947. Sil dedicated over 20 years of service as a nurse’s aide at DeBoer Nursing Home, where her compassion and care touched many lives. In 1970, she married the love of her life, Richard Strang, in Muskegon. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. A woman of deep faith, Sil was a longtime member of Evanston Avenue Church and lived her life as a faithful servant of the Lord. She found joy in the simple things—watching the world pass by from her window, appreciating nature’s quiet beauty, and, most of all, spending time with her beloved family and grandchildren. Sil will be remembered as a devoted wife, an incredible mother, a doting grandmother, and a cherished friend. Her gentle spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Strang; daughter, Sherry (Jeanne) Bates; son, Dave (Janet) Bates; stepchildren, Debra Beets, Richard Strang Jr, Steven (Deb) Strang and Carol (Joe) Tucker; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Bates; and her siblings. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her honor can be directed to Evanston Ave. Church or Hospice of Michigan.
