Rachel A. Modrow's Obituary
Rachel A. Modrow, 101, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday evening, October 25, 2023, in Twin Lake. She was born April 17, 1922, to Leland and Beatrice (Alger) Withers in Big Rapids and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. Years ago, she had worked at Gov’s Supermarket. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband Gail in 1966. Survivors include two children: Lester (Colleen) Modrow, Loretta (Terry) Bayne; grandchildren: Les (Gidget) Modrow, Jr., Steven (Tracy) Modrow, Michael (Michelle) Modrow, Terry Bayne, Jr. Shawn (Jeff) Lieffers, Dan (Melanie) Hosler, Joe (Nikki) Hosler, Andrea (Raymond) Burdell; 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, twin-brother Raymond, brothers Sidney and Maurice, and sister Lucille Toohey. The funeral for Mrs. Modrow will be held Monday, October 30, at 11:00 AM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Modrow may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
