Randall C. Wightman's Obituary
Randall Clinton Wightman, age 64, passed away unexpectedly in Norton Shores, MI, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Randy was born in Chillicothe, MO, to Vern and Lucille (Kamerer) Wightman on October 7, 1961. He graduated from Norborne High School and went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, serving for 20 years prior to retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 2001. On February 27, 1987, he married the former Jody Tooman, and the two of them spent 38 wonderful years together. Following his time in the military he worked as a freight conductor for Norfolk Southern Railway for 22 years, retiring in 2023. Shortly after retirement he moved to west Michigan, where he became a member at Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon. He was very involved at the church, serving as a building trustee on the leadership council, and also helped with the “mix-n-match” team and volunteered with the food pantry.
Growing up on a farm, Randy developed a love for animals that he was able to carry with him into his time as a kennel master with the Air Force Police. Over the years he oversaw the care of many patrol dogs, training them to detect explosives and narcotics. He was stationed in many locations during his service and appreciated the opportunity to see so much of the world and also enjoyed going on many trips with Jody over the years. He was an avid reader, collected sports cards, and also enjoyed “doodling” highly intricate geometric art pieces. He loved spending time outdoors, especially at the beach or riding his Harley. Randy was a calm, stable man of strong moral character who was happy to lend a helping hand wherever he could.
Randy will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jody Wightman; two sisters, Vinita Wightman and Ann (Jess) Spurgin; mother in-law, Nancy Tooman; father in-law, Charles (Barbara) Tooman; two siblings in-law: Steve (Lorraine) Tooman and Jennifer (Andrew) Dibley; six nieces and nephews: Michael Tooman, Stephanie Wallace, Brittany (Matthew) Hoak, Nicholas (Rachel) Dibley, Luke Dibley, and Christopher Dibley; and four great-nieces and great-nephews: Dax, Rylee, Tucker, and Elliana. He was preceded in death by both his parents.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Randy at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Central United Methodist Church, 1011 2nd St, Muskegon, MI 49440. VISITATION will be held from 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM.
