Randy J. Knapp's Obituary
Randy James Knapp, age 74, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease since 2019. He was born December 16, 1950, in Holland, MI, to Russell and Margaret “Magee” (Sadler) Knapp. Randy graduated from Holland High School before earning his nursing degree from the Hackley School of Nursing in Muskegon. He dedicated 30-plus years of his career as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital until his retirement. On April 28, 1982, he married Debra K. “Debbie” Vanderplow in Muskegon and enjoyed 43 wonderful years together. An avid sportsman and passionate golfer, Randy organized an annual golf outing for 10 years at Westwind Golf Club, raising funds for the Hume Home of Muskegon. He was deeply involved in his community and was a longtime supporter of Muskegon Big Red football and basketball. In his later years, he found joy in hiking the dunes with Debbie and their dogs as well as many close friends. Though he is gone, Randy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. SURVIVORS include his wife, Debbie; two brothers: Bruce (Kim) Knapp and Robert “Rob” (Lisa) Knapp; sister, “Missy” (Larry) Huggins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a special uncle, Bob Sadler. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 17, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery.
