Raul Melgoza's Obituary
Raul Melgoza passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, after battling a longtime illness; two days after his 75th birthday. He was born April 6, 1950, in San Antonio Ocampo Michoacán, Mexico to Jesus and Eloisa Melgoza. He worked as a machine operator for 40 years. In 1981, he married Kathryn Shook and together they loved to garden, listen to romantic Mexican music, and sit on the back porch. He was president of the Latin American Club for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Melgoza, his children: Mike (Carmen) Vasquez, Antonio Vasquez, Eloisa (Lavell) Clincy, Raul Jr. (Sharon) Melgoza, Veronica Melgoza, Ricardo (Tracy) Melgoza, Silvia (Bobby) Boelkins, and Felipe (Rachel) Melgoza; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Martin (Bertha) Melgoza, Jose Melgoza, and Manuel Melgoza; and 2 sisters: Sandra (Jesse) Vega and Patricia Melgoza. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Hector, Jose, and Alberto Melgoza. Raul Melgoza will be deeply missed by all who know him, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. SERVICES for Raul will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025, and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery. A celebration of Raul’s life will follow services on Tuesday from 5-10 PM at the VFW Post 3195 (5209 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores, MI 49441).
