Ray L. Boomer's Obituary
Mr. Ray L. Boomer, age 87, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Arthur and Edith (Schaening) Boomer. After moving to Muskegon, Ray met and married the former Barbara Dancz on June 12, 1953 where they raised their family. In later years, they enjoyed wintering in Englewood, Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama. Ray worked for Grand Trunk Railroad and Chesapeake and Ohio Railway as a brakeman and conductor prior to his retirement, and also spent many years as a volunteer fireman with Norton Shores Fire Department. Ray, along with Barbara, spent many hours volunteering his time to help restore the Milwaukee Clipper. He was a member of the Muskegon Eagles, Polish Falcons, and lifetime member of the Lakeside Veterans Club. Ray enjoyed golfing, bowling, and walking. He will be remembered as a good, kind man that could light up a room with his infectious smile. He is survived by his children, Steven (Ruth) Boomer, Michael Boomer, Kim (Miles) Golba, Thomas Boomer; six grandchildren, Heidi (Chawn) Duty, Monica (Cory) Kaiser, Micah Golba, Louis Boomer, Jake Boomer, and Thomas Boomer II; and three great-grandchildren, Charles, Weston, and Delanie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church (4475 Henry St., Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Pastor Scott Faith presiding.
