Mr. Ray F. Perley Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Ray F. Perley, Sr., age 88, passed away Friday afternoon, February 24, at his home. Ray was born February 23, 1924 to Ray F. (and Olga Froseth) Perley in Muskegon, and was a life resident. He was a member of Temple United Methodist Church. Ray was a self- employed all around handy man. He was a plumber, builder, and could accomplish almost anything involving maintenance. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing work for and helping out anyone that needed him. Ray was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 3rd Cavalry under General George Patten, and the invasion of Normandy. On August 3, 1973 he married Mary Jane Kent, and she preceded him in death on December 5, 1998. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Susann (Dan) Maynard of Mesa, AZ, Ray F. (JoAnn) Perley, Jr. of Muskegon, Scott (Jennifer) Perley of Roosevelt Park; 1 step-son, Melvin “Skip” (Nancy) Hoeft of N. Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Danny Maynard, Matthew (MuJuan Jiang) Perley, Rachel Perley. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Ruth Sutherland. The Perley family would like to give a special thank you to Harbor Hospice for the care they received. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 2, at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St.,(231) 798-1100, with Rev. Rob Cook officiating. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION at the funeral home will be from 6-8 PM Thursday.
