Raymond H. Calkins' Obituary
Mr. Raymond Herbert Calkins, age 71, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon on January 28, 1946 to Charles K. and Agnes C. (Mier) Calkins and was a life-long resident of the area. Ray had been employed by Eagle Ottawa Leather Company for 37 years prior to his retirement. He attended Woodmere Church of God and enjoyed collecting and building model cars, trains and airplanes. On November 18, 1967, Ray married the former Donna K. Gerwig in Muskegon and she survives him along with one brother, Robert Calkins; two sisters, Lucy (Ned) Durgan and Joyce (Brian) Reynolds; four brothers-in-law, Kenny (Joan) Gerwig, Jim (Karen) Gerwig, Bob (Sally) Gerwig and Walt Gerwig; five sisters-in-law, Ann Calkins, Pauline (Larry) Wemple, Josie Timmer, Peggy (Floyd) Jenkins, Ivoline Baldwin and Kathy Gerwig; many nieces and nephews and his loving bird, Rosco. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Calkins. According to Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. MEMORIALS in memory of Ray may be directed to Heartland Hospice or American Cancer Society.
