Raymond E. Carslake's Obituary
Raymond E. Carslake, age 86, passed away Thursday morning, March 19, 2015. He was born February 26, 1929 in Muskegon to Edward and Pearl (Ruud) Carslake. Ray was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 36 years prior to retiring in 1980. Ray played on the 3 time All State Muskegon Heights football team, was inducted into the Muskegon County Sports Hall of Fame, and also coached football for Sacred Heart. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and a life-member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles. Ray also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. On October 7, 1950 he married Doris Greiner in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on April 30, 2006. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Mark (Liane) Carslake of Dimondale, MI, Kathleen (Tom) Holmes, Laurie (Chris) Jensen both of Muskegon; son-in-law, Don Scholand of Memphis, TN; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Scholand and by a brother, Norm Carslake. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church – Marian Chapel, with the Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Mercy VNS Hospice will be appreciated.
