Raymond W. Cook's Obituary
Mr. Raymond W. “Pa” Cook, loving Husband, Dad and “Pa”, age 76, died Friday morning, March 9, 2012, at his home. He was born June 27, 1935 in Muskegon to Sidney and Daisy (Johnson) Cook and had been a life resident of the area. Ray had owned and operated Ray Cook Contractor prior to his retirement and had previously been a cabinet maker at Amstore. Ray was a member of Viking’s Linne Lodge #57 and of the Greater Muskegon Bowling Association. He had played fast-pitch softball and enjoyed fishing and visiting casinos, but his primary joy was his family. On January 12, 1957 he married the former Darlene Reed and she survives him along with 4 children, Raymond Cook, Jr., Gregory (Julie) Cook, LesLee (Kevin) Farrel and Cory (Bob) Chancellor, all of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Doris Cook, Joyce (Jack) Lee, Jackie (Gordon) Bennett, Bruce (Pam) Cook and by his in-laws, Barb Cook, Marian Cook, Carol Cook, Jerry Smith, Chet (Sharon) Reed and Nancy Backer. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marvin, Joan, Marian, Bill, Donna Jean, Robert and Paul. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with Pastor Tom Case officiating. VISITATION with Ray’s family will be one-hour prior to the service.
