Raymond Joseph Webster Hammond's Obituary
Raymond Joseph Webster Hammond, age 92, passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2023, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born on April 25, 1931, in Lake City, MI to Wilbert and Josephine (Warner) Hammond. Ray owned and operated Free Spirit Enterprises and went on to work as the building inspector for the City of Norton Shores for 20 years until he retired. On June 25, 1988, Ray married Rosemary Lundeen and they were recently able to celebrate 35 years together.
Ray enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting. He was also an amazing cook. He was a member and Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3306 and was an active member at St. Franics de Sales Catholic Church.
Ray will be fondly missed by his wife, Rosemary; children, Raymond “Beau” (Michelle) Hammond and Sean Hammond; step-children, Ron (Dawn) Johnson, David Johnson, Sheila Porter and Colleen (Jeff) Cone; grandchildren, Paij and Logan Johnson, Egan (Chalee) Porter, Samantha Bluhm, Sarah and Megan Johnson, Catherine Cone and Elizabeth Cone; great grandchildren, Logan Bluhm, Roses Bluhm, twins: Blake and Sloan Porter, Harper Porter and Charlee Porter; and brother, Wilber Hammond. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A MEMORIAL MASS will be 11 AM on Friday, August 25, 2023, at The St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St., Norton Shores, MI 49441) with Fr. Steve Geerling presiding and VISITATION 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence or Autism Alliance of Michigan.
