Raymond E. Jacobson's Obituary
Raymond E. Jacobson, age 87, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born on October 26, 1928 to John and Allie (Touri) Jacobson in Newberry, MI. He served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ray was a faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he loved to sing in the choir, was the past treasurer and enjoyed couples club. Prior to 1993, Ray worked as a CPA and retired from Brickley-DeLong in 1993. Ray was a Roosevelt Park councilman from 1978 - 1984 and Mayor of Roosevelt Park from 1984 - 1987. Other groups he dedicated time to were the Optimists Club and Finnish American Society. Most importantly church and family came first but in his free time he enjoyed golfing, and reading Civil War books. On October 21, 1961, he married Margaret J. Danielson and she survives him along with 2 children, Paul (Liana) Jacobson; Julie (James) Veersma and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jacob; 2 half-brothers, Francis and John Jacobson and 3 half-sisters, Viola Pike, Elma Thorsen and Lillian Jacobson. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1132 Southern Ave.) with Pastor Jane Mountain officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
