Mr. Raymond James Ritter's Obituary
Mr. Raymond James Ritter, age 94, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2018. Raymond was born August 5, 1923 in Sherman Township to Louis and Myrtle (Linstrom) Ritter. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On September 17, 1948, he married the former Ruth Marie Nelson and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2017. Ray worked as a toolmaker for Shaw Walker and a truck driver for both Browne Morse and E.H. Sheldon until his retirement in 1988. He was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Diana (Jim) Franckowiak of Muskegon; son, David (Barbara) Ritter of Holland; grandchildren, Laura (Tom) Johnson and Chad (Anne) Greenert; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ray was also preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers, Ronald, Donald and Louis Ritter Jr. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2 PM Friday, March 16, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Mark Miller officiating and Military Rites afforded under the auspices of VFW Muskegon County Council. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (1-2 PM). Interment in Lakeside Cemetery.
