Raymond A. Lemke's Obituary
Raymond Albert Lemke, age 82, of Grand Haven passed away on Friday, December 22, 2006 at a local care facility. He was born October 31, 1924 to Gustav and Adeline (Petzold) Lemke in Grand Haven and married Loretta Pellegrom on June 26, 1948 in Grand Haven.
Ray served his country in the Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. He was employed as an accountant for Grand Haven Brass for 33 years and also had served as Deputy City Clerk for Grand Haven several years ago. Ray was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and a former choir member. Ray enjoyed cooking, canning, working on puzzles and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; 4 sons, James (Pam), Thomas (Mary Beth), John, Mark (Shelly) all of Grand Haven; 6 grandchildren: Andy, Jason, Nicole and Derek Lemke, and Kyle and Shawn French. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Mrs. Charles Pellegrom of Grand Haven and a brother-in-law Ed Pellegrom of Grand Haven and several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Gus and Al Lemke.
The service for Ray Lemke will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dieter Haupt officiating. Friends may meet the family following the service at church for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church Choir or St. John’s Lutheran School are appreciated.
