Raymond D. Schrier's Obituary
Raymond Duwayne Schrier, age 85, of Spring Lake passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at a Muskegon hospital. He was born August 8, 1925 in Grand Haven to Jeltke “Jack” and Dorothy (Dowlyn) Schrier. Raymond married the former Lois Nyland on August 7, 1948 in Spring Lake.
Raymond ran Schrier Plumbing with his father and was later employed by Local #174 in Muskegon. He was a member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, life member of Grand Haven VFW Post #2326, and the American Legion Post #28 of Grand Haven. He was also a former member of the North Ottawa Rod & Gun Club, the Grand Haven Eagles Arie #925, and the Local #174 Plumber’s and Steam Fitters Union.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois; two daughters, Sue (Christopher) Bancroft of Argyle, TX, and their children, Chris, Jr., Brooke and Lauren; Dr. Jan (Dr. Michael) Streicher and their son, David of Columbus, OH; two sons, Norman Schrier of Spring Lake, and his children, Kimberlee (Paul) Hovey and Jason Schrier; Wesley (Andrea) Schrier of Comstock Park, and their children, Stephanie and Daniel (Amber) Schrier. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ross, and a sister, Betty Easterly.
The service to celebrate Raymond’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Chapel in Spring Lake with Rev. Doug Bytwerk officiating. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Post #2326 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family on Sunday, September 12, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Spring Lake. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Raymond may be made to the Fallen Heroes Monument.
