Readell "Buddy" Oakes' Obituary
Mr. Readell “Buddy” Oakes, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Riverside Nursing Home. He was born December 13, 1926 in Muskegon.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served his county in the U.S. Army.
On August 31, 1979 he married the former Judith Kunkel and she survives him along with his four children: Michael Oakes, Evelyn Henry, Marian Foster, and Jennifer Duff; Judith’s children: David Kunkel, Michael Kunkel and Barbara Rose; Many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra.
A memorial service will be 1 PM Monday, January 19, 2015 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Father David Gross officiating. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Buddy may be given to St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
