Rebecca "Becki" Sue Schuitema's Obituary
Rebecca Sue “Becki” Schuitema, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born May 23, 1951, in Muskegon to Frank and Elizabeth (VanDonkelaar) Schuitema and remained a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area.
Becki dedicated 44 years of service as a Medical Secretary, including her favorite 21 years as a valued member of the office staff for Dr. Gerald Harriman, retiring in 2016. Everyone who met Becki enjoyed her kind spirit, and she built many relationships throughout her career. In her free time, Becki enjoyed cross-stitching, playing games, cruises and other travel. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of East Muskegon CRC in her early life and later of Celebration Church in Muskegon, and enjoyed organizing spiritual retreats as a way to share her faith.
Becki is survived by her brothers Joseph (Jayne) Schuitema and Dennis (Shelly) Schuitema, nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, John, Paul, Alison, Caroline, and Emily, several great nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday July 16, 2026 at Restlawn Cemetery, 1400 Kenneth Street, Muskegon, MI 49442.
Memorial Contributions in Becki’s name may be given to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
