Rev. Dr. James M. Harwood's Obituary
Rev. Dr. James Harwood, age 69, of Muskegon passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 after a long battle with diabetes. He was born on May 31, 1948 to William and Mildred (Mast) Harwood in Traverse City. On June 13, 1970, he married Marie Seitz and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2000. Jim was the former pastor at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church and was involved in many community groups throughout Muskegon County. He served as interim pastor in several area churches after his retirement. Jim is survived by his children, Jennifer (Brian) Potteiger of Swartz Creek and James (Abbey) Harwood of Muskegon; grandchildren Seth, Whitney, and Jace Potteiger of Swartz Creek and Lincoln and Samuel Harwood of Muskegon; and his two sisters, Luella Davis and Sylvia Hainstock. He is also survived by his special friend, Linda Reed. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Marie, brother Bill Harwood, and parents William and Mildred Harwood. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. The family will receive visitors from 12 - 2 PM on Tuesday.
