Rev. Carl W. Rood's Obituary
Rev. Carl Wesley Rood, age 90 went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at a local nursing home. Carl was born on June 10, 1914 to John and Anna (Anderson) Rood, here in Muskegon & had resided here most of his life. On April 27, 1940 he married the former Florence D. Phillips and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Laurie W. Rood and a sister Grace B. Rood. Carl worked as a draftsman for Browne-Morse for 16 years and was a Pastor at Cloverville Bible Church in the later 1970s and early 1980s. At the time of his death he was a member of the Evanston Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Carl is survived by 2 children, his son, Robert (Joyce) Rood of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Karen (Ronald) Summers of Birmingham, AL; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother Bill Rood (Judy), sister Helen Hitt of Muskegon, several nieces and nephews and the loving, care staff at University Park Living Center. Carl sang and preached from Denver, Colorado to Brooklyn, New York and Muskegon, Michigan to Miami, Florida. Christian music and the Gospel were his love. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday with visitation at 10:00 A.M. at the Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. A private burial will be made in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
