Richard A. Alviar's Obituary
Rich passed through the gates of Heaven with his devoted family by his side on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Harbor Hospice Poppen House. Rich was retired from the United States Army having served his country in Vietnam and all over the world with the Army National Guard 1436th Engineer Division Montague, MI. Rich loved his family, was a loyal Michigan football fan and made the best salsa ever. Rich volunteered at the VFW Post 7729 where he acted as Quartermaster. He is survived by wife, Darlene; sons, Christopher (Amber) Alviar and Joshua (Lacey) Alviar; five granddaughters, Alyvia, Ava, Bryn, Amina and Ani. Also six brothers and two sisters and many other extended family members. Those loved ones who went on before him include his parents, Cesario and Felicitis Alviar; in-laws, Bob and Billie White; and four brothers. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Rich’s life will take place at the VFW Post 7729 (6285 E. Apple Ave., 49442) with Military Honors on Friday, January 10 at 11AM. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
