Richard Ray Ballard's Obituary
Richard Ballard, age 74, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016. Dick was born May 13, 1942 to Charles and Betty (Holt) Ballard in Alma, MI. He was employed as a surveyor for the Muskegon County Road Commission for 27 years and was a proud member of the Democratic Party. Dick was a musician who enjoyed playing the guitar and an artist, creating beautiful pencil drawings. He was also well known for telling bad jokes and he could often be found at his second home, The Book Nook & Java Shop in Montague. Dick will be missed by his sons, Alan (Sharon) Knight and Michael (Stacey) Ballard; grandchildren, Hayden and Josephine Ballard, Connor, Alexander and Benjamin Knight; and nieces, Cheryl, Michelle and Kim. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gary and Tim Ballard. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John Brown officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (1-2 PM). Memorial Contributions may be made to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
