I have a couple of stories about Dick.
We were camping in Canada and he went swimming with his car keys in a pocket of his swim suit. They fell out into the lake. He called his dad and Dick and Jan drove to the border where Dick's dad met them with another set. Quite a wonderful father.
Another story was when we had traveled to Costa Rica. Our return flight was very early. Dick was not an early riser but he got himself up to meet the bus to the airport. However upon arrival he could not locate their tickets. A guide we had said well, "You can't get on the plane without a ticket." I still remember Dick down on the floor of the airport with his suitcase wide open. At some point either he or Jan remembered the day before . . . they had rented a car to tour around in and before returning it they cleaned out all the refuse. They went to the trash can where they had dumped stuff and it had not been emptied yet and there were the tickets.
Dick was such a nice guy . . . and a good bridge player. I have many fond memories of him.
