Sgt. Richard "Dick" Earl De Nio Jr.'s Obituary
Sgt. Richard “Dick” Earl De Nio, Jr., age 74, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home. He was born on August 29, 1948, to Richard Sr. and Helen (Schaner) De Nio in Muskegon. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was deployed to Vietnam between 1968 – 1969; served in the Army Reserves 486th Engineer Company from 1970 – 1990; deployed to Desert Shield/Storm from 1990 – 1991 with the 180th Transportation Company and continued in the company until leaving the military in 2003. Dick also proudly served as an officer for the Egelston Township Police Department. Dick had worked many years for Clarke Floor Machine and went on to retire from Benteler Automotive (Hydro Aluminum) until his retirement in 2010.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Juliana “Julie” (Maitland) De Nio; children, Rhonda Brisendine (Bob Koontz), Richard “D.J.” De Nio, III (Casandra Seip), Michael (Nina) De Nio, Andrea De Nio; grandchildren, Brandon and Caleb Brisendine; Michael “Mikie” De Nio, Tristian De Nio, Nathan De Nio, Braxen “Axe” Diamond; siblings, Patricia Hammer (Ed Berry), Lonnie (Laura) De Nio, Faith (Meryl) Cram, Randy (Pauline) De Nio, Kevin (Nancy) De Nio; Uncles, David De Nio, Terry De Nio, and Jerome “Bud” (Arlene) Schaner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Helen De Nio.
A celebration of Dick’s life will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 1:00 pm at VFW Post #7729 (6285 E. Apple Ave.) with Military Honors taking place at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s name can be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or the charity of your own choosing. Feel free to sign the family’s online guestbook.
