Richard "Dick" B. Wilson's Obituary
Mr. Richard B. Wilson, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 8, 1942 to Lawrence and Frances (Hill) Wilson in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Dick married the love of his life, Judy DeLong on February 1, 1963 and she survives him. Dick worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for 45 years as a program manager prior to retirement. He enjoyed living a very active lifestyle, running, biking, and swimming. Dick was a true North Muskegon Norsemen through and through. His passion for running led him to start the high school cross country teams, which continue to do well today. He proudly supported all Norsemen sporting events and could be heard cheering on the teams from the stands GO NORSE. Dick kept his days filled with various activities and events. He enjoyed spending time on the beach and on the water. Dick grew up sailing and continued to sail and boat with his family. Dick had a great appreciation for Michigan’s natural beauty, and he worked to protect it. He led a team that was instrumental in conserving the Muskegon State Park for visitors to enjoy for years. Dick’s position at Teledyne allowed him to travel to Israel numerous times and he cherished the many friendships that were established over the years. Dick greatly enjoyed meeting new people and hearing about their lives. He genuinely wanted to know about others and learn about different cultures as much as he could. Dick loved living life to the fullest each and every day and will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy; children, Mia Wilson and Chris (Ann) Wilson; grandchildren, Natalie Wilson, Noa Weller (Cade Jordan), Ellie Wilson (Andy DeYoung), Tess Wilson (Jake Schwartz), and Audrey Wilson. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Weller, and parents. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00PM at 460 Channel Rd, North Muskegon, MI 49445. In lieu of flowers, please consider the “Alliance for the Great Lakes” for a memorial contribution and designate in Richard B. Wilson's memory.
