Richard "Rick" Elwell's Obituary
Richard D. “Rick” Elwell, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. He was born on January 1, 1954, in Muskegon, MI, to Richard and Marjorie (Vanderlaan) Elwell and remained a lifelong resident of the area. Rick was a proud graduate of Mona Shores High School, Class of 1973. He dedicated over 30 years of hard work to Sealed Power, where he was employed in iron casting. Outside of work, Rick was a member of the Polish Club, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of close friends. He had a deep love for classic cars and music, passions that brought him joy throughout his life. Known for his stubborn streak, Rick also had a soft side, his family always knew how deeply he cared for them. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his quiet strength, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Pete) Thompson; three grandchildren, Cameren, Caleb and Colin Thompson; sister, Julie (Burt) Wachter; mother of his children, Maloah Griffin; and special family, John Walters and Joanne (Tyrone) Conarty. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony Elwell; and brother, David (Virginia) Elwell. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Lake Harbor United Methodist, 4861 Henry St., Norton Shores, MI 49441 with visitation one-hour prior.
