Dr. Richard Jaszewski's Obituary
Richard Jaszewski M.D., age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 19, 2020. He was born on July 27, 1950 to Henry and Lucille (Vivo) Jaszewski in Newark, New Jersey. Rich began his medical career as a gastroenterologist in Detroit while serving his fellowship at Wayne State University. While there, he met Cathie Christie and they were married on July 12, 1985 in Taylor, MI. Rich worked at the VA for 23 years before moving to Muskegon in 2004 to work at West Michigan Gastroenterology. He was a skilled endoscopist and a talented pianist, who loved feeding the wildlife in his backyard. He also enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, casino trips, and practicing martial arts. He loved ending his day with a good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon on his pontoon. Most importantly, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his two grandsons, Evan and Luke. Richie will be deeply missed by his wife of 34 years, Cathie; children, Eric Jaszewski, Christie (Kyle) McKinney and Stacey (Kris) LaTurno; two grandsons, Evan and Luke; father, Henry; and sister, Karen (Michael) Murphy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille. A Private Family Graveside Service will take place. A Celebration of Rich’s Life will be planned at a later date.
