Mr. Richard Yore "Dick" Klamfoth's Obituary
After a long and difficult journey, Richard Yore “Dick” Klamfoth, age 79, passed away very peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014. He was born on October 10, 1934, to Clarence and Eva Klamfoth, in Evanston, Illinois. Richard graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1952. He was employed by Teledyne Continental Motors and was proud of his participation in the design of U.S. Army military armored vehicles. After 30 years, he retired and then went to work for Haworth, designing furniture. On June 9, 1956, Richard married Delores Saum of Newaygo. Together, they raised seven children. Richard was active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was devoted to his church and faith, serving in the Serra Club, singing in the choir, and participating on many committees. Over the years, Richard enjoyed sharing his time and talent with many organizations. They include the Cosmopolitan Male Choir, the Vikings Club, the Mona Shores Booster Club and his chapter of the UAW. Richard loved taking care of his gardens and lawn. He devoted his life to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, band concerts, musical events and dance recitals. Richard loved animals and he never turned a stray away. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Delores, of nearly 58 years. Also surviving are six children, Joseph of Suisan, CA, Edward of Newnan, GA, Anne (Daniel) Bitzer of Otsego, MI, Richard (Katherine) of Senoia, GA, Ruth (David) Hekkema of Norton Shores, MI, William (Ashley) of Lumberton, TX and eight grandchildren, Anthony, Audrey, Meredith, Nicholas, Aaron, Evan, Alex and Carson. At the time of his death, Richard was welcomed by his daughter, Mary Ann Prentice, 2010 and his most beloved and cherished grandson, Joey Hekkema, 2013. Richard will always be remembered by his sense of humor, his devotion to family, and his faith. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (239 W. Clay) with Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565 with the ROSARY prayed at 8:00PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Richards name may be made to the Joey Hekkema Memorial Fund through the Community Foundation of Muskegon County or The Muskegon Rescue Mission.
