Mr Richard "Dick" Laubach's Obituary
Mr. Richard “Dick” Roland Laubach passed away on February 3, 2014. He was 77 years old. Dick was born on June 1, 1936 to Hugh and Dora Laubach. In 1960 he married the former Elizabeth (Betty) Dooper and together they were blessed with 2 children. Dick earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and worked as a safety consultant for the State of Michigan until his retirement in 1998. Dick was a member of Community United Methodist Church for many years before joining Life Change Church. He was a member of the Muskegon Vikings, a supporter of Supper House and Relay for Life. Sadly after 43 years of marriage, his wife Betty passed away. In May of 2013 Dick married the former Gwen Scheppman-Carey. Dick enjoyed kayaking, camping, fishing, traveling, skiing and being with his family. He was an energetic, loving, compassionate, fun-loving, amazing man of God who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include his wife Gwen; 2 daughters, Chris (Woolf) Laubach and Lisa (Leo Costello) Laubach; 2 step children, Steven (Vicki) Olson and JoAnn (John) Jacobs; grandchildren, Brandi (Troy) South, Amber Woolf, Brittani Woolf, Lynnea Olson and Andrew Jacobs; 4 great grandchildren; sister Doretta Juergens; and his special chocolate lab Toby. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth; brother, Wilburt Laubach; and 2 sisters, Ruth Lawrence and Diana Woodruff. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Life Change Church 3084 Whitehall Rd with Rev. Ron Rands officiating. VISITATION will be held on Monday from 5-7 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS can be made to the Johnson Cancer Center.
