Richard Anthony Marshall's Obituary
In loving memory of a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. On June 1st, Richard (Rich) Anthony Marshall, age 76, went home to be with our Lord and his beloved wife, Jan, after he beat pancreatic cancer, but passed due to complications. Rich had previously survived esophageal and bladder cancer.
Rich was born in Grand Rapids to Arthur and Marjorie (Nichols) Marshall. He grew up in Coopersville and moved to Muskegon where he resided until his death. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
On June 11, 1965, he married Jan Marshall (Potter) at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Coopersville.
Rich retired from Dana Corporation (Sealed Power) after 34 years as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. Rich was involved in each of his grandchildren’s lives and made each one feel special and loved. He was also involved in Boy Scouts and Knights of Columbus for many years. Ancestry research was his retirement passion, and he spent many hours filling out our family tree. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening, visiting with family and friends and baking his famous banana bread and cinnamon rolls. He LOVED playing rounds of Skip-Bo with family. Rich will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving Rich and Jan are their five children, Robert (Tracy) Marshall, Tammy (Randall) Bond, Arthur (Urmi) Marshall, Anthony (Kendra) Marshall and Dustin (Sandra) Marshall; 18 grandchildren, Alyssa (Donald) Smith, Alec Marshall, Valerie Marshall, Samantha (Jared) Hrbek, Ashley (Michael) Mongeau, Emily Marshall, Madeline Marshall, Rohan Marshall, Niam Marshall, Anthony Marshall, Leann Marshall, Andrew Evans, Rae Ann (Tony) Contreras, Kaden Marshall, Makaylee Marshall, Clayton Marshall, Cole Marshall and Jasper Marshall; seven great-grandchildren, Amara Mongeau, Ezra Mongeau, Gianni Mongeau, Harrison Hrbek, Ryker Marshall, and Iris Smith. Rich is also survived by his siblings, James (Louella) Marshall, Steven (Anna) Marshall, Roger (Teresa) Marshall and Martha Marshall; loving in-laws, Karen (Patrick) Benham, Loel Potter, Jerry Potter, Ruby McClellan; and sister in-law, Judith Potter. Rich was preceded in death by his mother and father; mother-in-law, Geraldine McAuley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred Potter, Burton Potter, Cindy Potter, Stephen Berry and Ardy Potter; and great-granddaughter, Viola Cole.
