Mr. Richard K. McKellips' Obituary
Mr. Richard K. McKellips, age 69, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home in the care of hospice and surrounded by his family. He was born on February 9, 1949 to Claude and Jean (Grzybowski) in Douglas, MI. Rich married his best friend and soulmate, Rita, on December 16, 1995. Rich proudly served his country during the Vietnam War while in the United States Air Force. He worked at the family business, McKellips & Sons, and later went on to pursue his own business, Rich McKellips Heating and Cooling. Rich had a generous spirit, always helping others in their time of need. He enjoyed numerous missionary trips, including the opportunity to travel to Honduras and the Dominican Republic and was an active member of New Life Community Church. Rich liked racing cars and dirt bikes, boating, working on cars with his son, Richie, and enjoyed countless shenanigans with his lifelong friend, Larry Green. Rich adored and doted on his wife and would do anything for his family. He will be missed by his loving wife, Rita; children, Richie (Barbara) McKellips of South Carolina and Regina (Tom) Fletcher of Georgia; step-children, Lindsey (Ryan Leary) Goss and Stephanie (Bryan) Hoekstra, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Abby and Hannah of SC, Logan and Austin of GA, and one granddaughter on the way; great-grandchildren, Landon and Annsleigh of SC; niece, Tracey Deur; and nephew, Stevie McKellips. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ricky; parents, Claude and Jean; and most recently his brother, Steven. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 6PM at New Life Community Church (4095 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements made by The Spring Lake Chapel, 213 E.
