Richard E. Miller's Obituary
Richard “Dick” E. Miller, age 91, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 in Whitehall. He was born on September 1, 1932 in Owosso, MI to Paul and Margaret (Zachar) Miller. Dick was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He then worked for 41 years for GTE Telephone as an Engineer Manager before retiring in 1991. On September 6, 1952 he married the former Donna Manas and enjoyed 67 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on May 2, 2020. Dick and Donna had homes in both Fruitport, Michigan and St. Petersburg, Florida. They had many travels including living in Hawaii for a short time. SURVIVORS include five children, Pamela (Donald) Carrier, Richard (Donna) Miller, Jr., Paula (Robert) Lund, Patricia (Bruce) Cole, and Ronald (Bernadette) Miller; eight grandchildren, Brandon Carrier, Kristina (Brian) Fisher, Elizabeth Lund, Adam (Grace) Miller, Kelsey (Christopher) Dutot, Andrew Lund, Emma Cole and Samantha Miller; two great grandchildren, Michael Fisher and Charles Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret; siblings, Donna, Robert, Dorothy, and Sandra; son-in-law, Don Carrier; and special friend, Marie Herbert. A Memorial Service for both Dick and Donna will be celebrated 11AM Friday, May 3, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. Burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery.
