Dr. Richard Wayne Oliver's Obituary
Dr. Richard Wayne Oliver, 81, of Spring Lake, MI and formerly of Lynchburg, VA passed away peacefully on Thursday July 18, 2024. Richard graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. After years of dedicated service in psychiatry throughout Illinois and Indiana, he ended his 45-year career in Lynchburg, VA in 2015 Richard was passionate about his professional career and those under his care. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife Patricia (Pat), who established her own travel agency in North Carolina before retiring in 1988. Richard is survived by his sister, Carole Rickard of Tennessee; his stepdaughter, Kim Setzer Angermeier and husband Tom of Indiana, and stepson, Tracy Setzer and wife Teresa of North Carolina; two nephews, Nathan Rickard and wife Lindsay of Tennessee, and Jesse Rickard of Michigan; and great nephew Emmanuel Rickard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Treadway Setzer Oliver, his parents, Job and Esther Oliver, his stepson Scott Setzer, and his stepson Kevin Setzer. A special note of thanks to the caregivers at American House of Spring Lake where Richard was cared for. The family welcomes friends for a graveside celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. Sunday August 18, 2024, at Burke Memorial Park Cemetery, 2506 Burke Memorial Park Road, Morganton, North Carolina 28655.
