Richard R. Oslund MD's Obituary
Richard R. Oslund, MD, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020. He was born July 29, 1929 in Rochester, Minnesota to Richard T. and Ebba (Peterson) Oslund. Richard grew up in Cass Lake, MN and moved to North Muskegon in 1964. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and during the war was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Richard received his Medical Degree at the University of Minnesota and worked as a radiologist for Radiology Muskegon PC for 28 years prior to retiring in 1992. On December 26, 1956, he married the love of his life, Roberta L. “Bobbie” Truax, in Minneapolis and she preceded him in death on August 20, 2014. Dr. Oslund was a member of the Whitehall American Legion and the American Medical Association, as well as past president of the Western Michigan Medical Association. He was an electronics guru, loved computers, and was a Ham radio enthusiast. He also enjoyed target shooting, fishing in Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan, and was also an avid canoer in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) of Northern Minnesota. SURVIVORS include 2 sons: Jeff (Raelene) Oslund of Boyne City, MI and Brett (Mark) Oslund-Bigelow of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren: Ashley (Romulo) Altamirano, Heather (Alan) Berryman, Jenah (William) Mead, Geoffrey Morrow, and Sarah (Brett) Grotenhuis; 3 great-grandchildren; a niece and several nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Morrow on March 11, 2016. According to his wishes, private family services will be held.
