I never grew up with a dad in my home so calling someone dad was unfamiliar to me, but that's what I called Rick. He had a way of making you feel like his son. He took me in on countless occasions for holidays I would have otherwise spent alone and he, Patty, Ben and the rest of the North Muskegon crew made me feel the warmth a kid from Hawaii needed in the cold only a Michigan winter could provide. I will miss him, his kindness, his hugs, his lawyerly advice, his laugh and his strong pours. I could go on for days. So much to miss, but so many memories and lessons to be thankful for. A trade I wish I didn't have to make, but a fair one indeed.
Thanks for everything Dad.
