Mr. Richard Ryefield's Obituary
Mr. Richard Ryefield, age 87, of West Olive; formerly of Muskegon and Ravenna died peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Born December 20, 1927 to Roy and Evelyn (Lehmer) Ryefield, Richard was active in the Boy Scouts prior to enlisting in the U. S. Army Air Corps and serving his Country during WWII, enlisting on December 20, 1944 and serving until his discharge on August 4, 1947. After his discharge he returned to Continental Motors Corp., where he was employed prior to enlisting in the service. He served as a supervisor for 23 years. He then left C.M.C. and purchased Ajax Sales Corp. Richard and his wife Doris owned and operated the company for 19 years until their retirement. He sold the company to Len and Linda Kemp. Richard and Doris spent their retirement at their homes in Ft. Meyers Beach, FL and Ludington. Doris and Richard lived for many years in Ravenna, where Richard was a volunteer Fire Dept. member. Richard was also a member of the Lions Club, served on the Village Council, and was a lifetime member of Ravenna and Ludington American Legions. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents, and nephew, Rick Holmes. Richard was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by his loving companion, Betty Daniels; exchange student, Suzanne (Frank) Rodriquez; sister, Delores Eagen of Murfreesboro, TN; nieces, Linda Firth and Lori Brown of Murfreesboro, TN; and nephew, Mike (Shirley) Holmes of Muskegon. At Richard’s request, cremation has taken place. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at The Lee Chapel , 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, with visitation two hours prior to the service (11-1PM). Full Military Rites will be afforded under the auspices of VFW Muskegon County Council. Burial will be made in Ravenna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hospice of Holland or the American Legion
