Richard L. Scott's Obituary
Richard L. Scott, 83, of Spring Lake, Michigan, passed away on October 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with multiple medical problems.
Richard was the son of Harold H. and Louise M. Scott. He married Karen Kamp of Spring Lake on August 9, 1963, and remained her partner for 56 years. They made their home in Spring Lake. Richard retired from Steelcase in Grand Rapids where he served as a data center manager.
As a young man Richard was a good athlete. He enjoyed basketball and track. He attended Purdue University but later became an avid Michigan State fan. His hobbies included Civil War reenactments, building model trains and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid reader and storyteller. He enjoyed posting pictures of the good old days on the internet to share with family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Karen, and his parents Maxine and Harold Scott, North Manchester, IN. He is also preceded in death by his sister Kate Scott of Clermont, FL. He is survived by his son, Jonathon, sisters Rebecca Scott and Shari Scott-Bellinger, brothers, Harold Scott Jr (Trudy) and Robert Scott (Lisa), many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and church family members in a community that experiences the transcendent glory of God and is transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.
Richard enjoyed life to the fullest.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Spring Lake Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E.
