Mr. Richard "Dick" Stough's Obituary
Mr. Richard A. “Dick” Stough, 89, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born April 24, 1926 to Harley and Ruth (Terpenning) Stough in Muskegon, and lived in Jackson for 30 years before returning to Muskegon in 2014. Dick worked for Consumer’s Energy for 35 years, retiring as the Director of Boiler Maintenance, and was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading and traveling to several countries throughout the world. He also enjoyed wintering for 20 years in Anna Maria, FL, restoring his Model A car and fixing things in general. He was a big MSU football fan and had been to several bowl games. On March 6, 1946 Dick married Melba J. Baker in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2015. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Juliann (Douglas) Holman of Lakeland, FL, Claudia (Kenneth) Hanson of Muskegon, Pam (Frank) Schaner of Norton Shores; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Marion Hemphill and Lois Carlson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Steven Wolters officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation with Dick’s family will be 1 hour prior to the service.
