Richard Lee Thompson's Obituary
Richard Lee Thompson, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 12, 2015, at home with his family by his side. He was born December 24, 1935 in Jackson, MI to Albert and Jean (Millikin) Thompson, who preceded him in death. Dick was a 1953 graduate of Muskegon High School. Following high school he attended Michigan State University where he received a BA in Advertising. He is survived by his wife Muriel VanHemert whom he married on December 6, 1958. He has two daughters: Cheryl (Edward) Herington of Norton Shores and Julie (Andrew) Logsdon of Florence, AL. He is the proud grandfather of three grandsons: Lee and Greg Logsdon of Florence, AL and Michael Herington of Norton Shores. Dick was a veteran of the United States Army and was the manager of Hosler’s Clothing Store for many years. He enjoyed painting lakescapes in oil on canvas and surrounding areas. He was also a wood carver. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and boating. Dick and his wife are members of the Vikings in Muskegon and also Unity Reformed Church. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place later in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or Unity Reformed Church will be appreciated.
