Mr. Richard Workman's Obituary
"...To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord." 1 Corinthians 5:8
Rick passed away March 27, 2019 at Heartland Hospice Center. Rick was born on January 27, 1957 to Rev Richard & Beverly Workman in Muskegon. Gone from this Earth, but not from our hearts. Beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Rick was a 1975 Graduate of Shelby High School. He was on the Wrestling team and Bronze Medal State Champion in 1972. He was a hard worker at everything he did. He began working at his parent's carpet and furniture store while in high school and purchased his first home in Shelby in 1976. He moved to Muskegon and owned another flooring & carpeting store for many years. Rick loved to hunt and fish. The favorite memories with his son were fishing and boating. He was a great cook of venison and had an awesome secret recipe for smoked fish and meat. He battled cancer for almost 2 years. He always kept a positive Spirit and never gave up. He was a loving son and called his mother every week after she moved to Monroe. Throughout his treatment he had many phone calls with his sister and prayed together long distance. He thanked God for each day. He was grateful for the close friendship of his Uncle Bill & Melody Howard. He was greeted in Heaven by his dad, Rev. Richard Workman, Grandparents Aunts & Uncles, nephews and many loved ones. He will be dearly missed and memory cherished by his mother Beverly J. Workman of Monroe Michigan, his son Jason Workman of Muskegon, Grandson Sebastian Workman of Whitehall, his siblings, Ruth and Marino Manolis of Allen Park Mi, Timothy Workman of Twin Lake who drove him to his chemotherapy, Catherine and Ray Torrenga of Muskegon, and Pamala and Bruce Inch of Monroe Michigan and Nephew Ryan Dodge who cared for him as he battled cancer, and many nieces & nephews & cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at a future date.
