Richard Zuidema's Obituary
Richard Zuidema, 74, of Vallejo, California, passed away on April 9, 2021. He lived his early years in Muskegon, Michigan, until joining the United States Air Force to serve his country in Vietnam during which, Richard received commendations and an award for his decisiveness during service.
He settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where he would marry, have children, and develop many friends. His two sons would come to know the hard-working and dedicated nature of their dad. He would apply those traits in many years of service at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
Throughout all his relationships, he would be known as one who was steadfast, decisive, and willing to help; the traits which would make his sons so proud. After retiring from civil service and his wife Diane Marie’s passing, he would spend his years fishing, spending time with friends, and spending time in the garden with his dog Macy.
He is survived by his sister Marilyn Derks (Larry) along with brothers Alan (Anita) and Jim Zuidema (Sue). His sons, Jeffery Thomas and Marcus Dale (wife Antonia; grandchildren Rebekah, Matthew, and Nicholas).
Services will be held at 6 pm (Pacific Time) on April 30th at The Potter’s House Church, 475 Tesconi Circle, Santa Rosa, California, 95401. The services can be viewed online at The Potter’s House website: srpottershouse.com.
