Richard E. Carlson's Obituary
Mr. Richard E. Carlson, age 79, passed away Friday morning, July 10, 2009 following a long illness. Richard was born in Muskegon on July 15, 1929 to Hans and Marguerite (Lebesq) Carlson. He attended Muskegon High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 5th Army Infantry. Dick was an active member of, V.F.W. Post 3195, the American Legion, Muskegon Heights Eagles, First Catholic Slovak Union “Tatra Hall” and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was employed at C.W.C. for over 40 years retiring as assistant plant manager in 1986. Richard married the former Sandra J. Decent in Muskegon on July 1, 1961 and she survives him along with his brother, Emil (Doris) Carlson of Norton Shores and many nieces and nephews. 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 20, 2009 with Fr. Thomas J. Brown presiding. Military Rites honoring Mr. Carlson’s service to his country will be held under the auspices of, V.F.W. Post 3195 and the Muskegon Post of the American Legion. Memorial Contributions: American Heart Association.
