Richard Earle Crosby's Obituary
Mr. Richard Earle “Dick” Crosby, age 84, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his home. He was born Richard Nichols Carter on April 29, 1925 and was adopted by Earle and Myrtle (Glaze) Crosby. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. On June 22, 1946, he married the former Catherine Belle Nichols in Muskegon and she survives him. He retired in 1982 after working 16 years as a truck driver for Wagoner Transport. He was a member of the VFW Post 4249 in Newaygo, MI and the DAV Wood Tazelaar Polar Bear Post in Muskegon. He was also a very active member of Hope Reformed Church and his church in Florida. Along with his wife of 63 years, Catherine, he is also survived by 4 children, Richard L. (Charlene) Crosby, Sr. of Grant, Carol L. (Jim) VanMaastricht of Muskegon, Earle D. (Jackie) Crosby of Houma, LA, Catherine S. Mayo of Texas; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Doris Sabin-Ropotar of Muskegon; 2 sisters-in-law, Theda Mae Carter and Betty Cousineau; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Ruth, and 1 brother, David Carter. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Hope Reformed Church (1878 Evanston Ave.) with Pastor Steven Hyma officiating. INTERMENT will take place at North Casnovia Cemetery. VISITATION will be held at Hope Reformed Church 6-8 PM Wednesday and 12-2 PM Thursday.
