Richard E. "Dick" Goodwin's Obituary
Mr. Richard E. “Dick” Goodwin, age 82, passed away Wednesday morning, November 18, 2009. He was born March 15, 1927 in Muskegon to Earl and Ila (Miller) Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and worked 26 years for Consumers Power Company before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, belonged to the VFW Post #8846, the American Legion #0411 in Grand Haven, Vikings Linne Lodge 57, and the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274. On July 29, 1950 he married the former Kathleen “Kay” Springsdorf and she survives him along with 3 children, Rick (and special friend, Debra) Goodwin of Grand Rapids, Jan (John) Faulman of Alpena, MI, Lori (Jerry) Riley of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Sara (Gene Coffey) Faulman, Angela Goodwin, Devon (Christopher) Faulman-Baldwin, Andrew Goodwin, Aaron Goodwin; 1 great-grandson, Harrison Baldwin; 2 sisters, Virginia (Robert) Reynolds of Muskegon, Maurine (Don) Cordes of Grand Haven; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Timmer of Muskegon. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:30 AM Saturday at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Dr. Zawdie K. Abiade officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the church. MEMORIALS to Lakeside United Methodist Church or the Old Newsies will be appreciated.
