Richard Guy Hamil's Obituary
Richard Guy Hamil, age 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 21, 2011. He was born in Muskegon on October 4, 1924 to Robert G. and Rolina H. (Timmer) Hamil and was 1943 graduate of Muskegon Heights H.S. where he was a standout athlete. Richard held the state record in the mile for many years and remained a loyal tiger fan throughout his life. Following graduation, Richard was employed for 37 years at Railway Express and later at Lyons Transportation until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching sports, spending time with family & friends and traveling. Through the years, Richard and Ann traveled to all 50 states. He married the former Anna Hornak on October 27, 1962 and was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Ann; their two daughters, Dawn (Jack) Snider of Walker and Diane (Kirby) Sparks of Spring Lake; two grandsons, Reed Snider and Tyler Sparks; sister-in-law, Audrey Hornak; and several nieces and nephews. Please join the family in a celebration of his life at: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at, Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1860 E. Hile Rd., Rev. Dennis Stroh officiating.
