Richard H. "Dick" Egeler's Obituary
Mr. Richard H. “Dick” Egeler, age 80, died Monday afternoon, January 18, 2010, at his home. Dick was born June 13, 1929 in Leland, MI to Leonard and Agnes (Korson) Egeler; and had resided most of his life in the Muskegon area. Dick retired at the age of 49 from Muskegon Piston Ring and had also been a carpenter and contractor prior to being head of maintenance for the Muskegon Race Course. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II; and had previously served on the board of the Muskegon Conservation Club. Dick also enjoyed the Little River Casino. On September 17, 1949 he married the former Harriet Louise Bogner and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2007. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Dennis Clarence in 1953 and by Eugene Raymond in December of 2009; 2 brothers, Fred and Leonard Egeler, Jr. and by 1 sister, Beverly Haney. SURVIVORS include 7 children, Christine Wellman of Grand Rapids, MI, Kathleen (Mark) Olson of Muskegon, Richard (Patti) Egeler of Twin Lake, Laura (Jack) Nummerdor II of Muskegon, Duane (Debbie) Egeler of Twin Lake, Annette Aldridge of Fruitport and Mark Egeler of Muskegon; 1 daughter-in-law, Pat Egeler of Fruitport; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers and sisters, Donald (Clara) Egeler, Betty (Robert) Dault, Robert Egeler and Barb (Darryl) Rose, all of Muskegon and Alvin (Jeannette) Egeler of Florida. VISITATION for Dick will be 11A -1PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel of
Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231-759-8565),
followed by THE ROSARY being prayed at 1PM and Military Honors being offered under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of VFW. MEMORIAL GIFTS to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
