Richard L. Robbins, Sr.'s Obituary
Richard L. Robbins, Sr., age 81, passed away unexpectedly, Friday afternoon, December 30, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born in Englewood, Ohio on May 24, 1930 to John and Helen (Williamson) Robbins. He was raised in N. Muskegon by his mother Helen and step-father Ava Miller and was a 1949 graduate of N. Muskegon H.S. He married the former Harriet Dykehouse in Muskegon on August 1, 1950 and was employed as a supervisor at Shaw Walker for 39 years. Following his retirement, Richard and his wife Harriet opened the Robbins Jewelry Store in N. Muskegon. He was a former member of the Muskegon Rock and Mineral Club, enjoyed hunting & fishing, making jewelry and wood carving. He is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Harriet; their four children, Richard (Deb) Robbins, Jr. of Sidney, NE, Kathy (Rich Mitchell) Singerling of Muskegon, David Robbins of Muskegon and Tammy (Don) Frazier of N. Muskegon; Step-mother, Betty Robbins in Ohio, one brother, Edward (Peggy) Miller of Walkerville; one half-sister, Ann Carter in Texas; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsay Frazier in 1996 and his sister Mona Ayers. In accordance to Mr. Robbins wishes a private service with family was held and burial has taken place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. MEMORIALS to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
