Richard L. "Dick" Cross' Obituary
Mr. Richard “Dick” Leroy Cross, age 67, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at Mercy Health Partners following a lengthy and courageous fight against cancer. He was born October 24, 1944 in Muskegon to Leroy and Bonnie (Carney) Cross and lived in the area his entire life. Prior to retirement in 2002, he worked for 23 years at GMI Composites and 7 years at Concord Plastics. He married the former Edna Louise Bunnell on October 24, 2002 and she survives him. Dick was a member of Central Assembly of God. He was a devoted fan of MSU and U of M sports, but his chosen team was the Muskegon Big Reds and Dick proudly attended all home games since 1959. He also enjoyed fishing the pier at Pere Marquette. SURVIVORS include his wife, Edna; 4 children, DeOnna (Karen) Cross of Cheboygan, Brandy Hall of Twin Lake, Aron (Tammy) Cross and Andrew (Nicole) Cross both of Muskegon; 2 step-children, Mary (Brian) Reens of Coopersville, and Tom (Yolanda) Narlock of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; 1 brother, Randy (Julie) Cross of Muskegon; 3 sisters, Barbara King of Muskegon, Sharon (Richard) Bliss of Holland, Diane (Roger) Courtland of Ludington; his mother-in-law, Laura Bunnell of Holton; 3 brothers-in-law, Bobby Doan of Muskegon, Robert Bunnell and Carl “Ted” Bunnell of Holton; 1 sister-in-law, Norma Bunnell of Fremont; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends, including Gary Peters, Frank Krysch, Gilbert Plested, and Raymond Dykes. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Rosemarie Doan; and 1 sister-in-law, Carol Peterson. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Central Assembly of God (896 Home Street) with Pastor Adam Meyer and Pastor Douglas Hill officiating. INTERMENT will take place at West Hesperia Cemetery. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service, 12-1 PM Thursday at the church.
