Richard P. DeVries' Obituary
On Wednesday, March 25, 2009, Mr. Richard DeVries, age 96, left his earthly life and went home to be with God and His Son, Jesus; and his wife, Clarissa. Richard was born March 30, 1912 to Peter and Jennie (Tell) DeVries in Muskegon. On June 30, 1951, he married the former Clarissa G. Wiersema in Elkhart, IN. He was a cabinet maker for E.H. Sheldon for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1976. Prior to that, he had worked at Campbell, Wyant and Cannon. Richard and Clarissa had been longtime members of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. Richard was an avid fisherman and gardener. He is survived by 5 children, Donald (Diana) DeVries of Grand Haven, Carolyn Cihos of Muskegon, Judy DeVries of Havelock, NC, Kathleen (Duane) Allison and Kenneth (Cindy) DeVries, all of Muskegon; Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his guardian, Chuck Wilks.
