Richard "Rick" Kamp's Obituary
Mr. Richard “Rick” Kamp, age 33, of Norton Shores passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born on June 13, 1977, in Grand Haven to Ken and Cindy (Swords) Kamp. He was a 1995 graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School and a 1999 graduate of Calvin College. He married the former Cindy Kapenga on July 13, 2002. Rick owned and operated Cindy’s Food Mart, and he was a member of Calvary Church. He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife, Cindy; his 2 children, Lauren M. Kamp and Carter D. Kamp; his parents, Ken and Cindy Kamp of Spring Lake; his brother, Dan Kamp of Grand Haven; his grandmother, Hazel Sternberg of Spring Lake; and his grandfather, Richard Swords of Muskegon, father and mother-in-law, Al & Jacie Kapenga of West Olive; grandparents-in-law, Harold & Flora Mae Kapenga and Lloyd & Marge Wolters; brothers and sister-in-law, Patrick (Cherith) Kapenga, Chris (Cari) Kapenga, Connie (Troy) Flinton, Paul (Julie) Kapenga and Clint (Jamie) Kapenga. Funeral Services for Rick will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Calvary Church (5873 Kendra Rd., Fruitport) with Pastor Bill Rudd officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6-9 PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. Interment will take place in Norton Cemetery.
