Rieda M. Venema's Obituary
Mrs. Rieda M. Venema, age 86, died early Friday morning, April 28, 2006. She was born February 22, 1920 in Muskegon to Peter and Effie (VanKampen) Tjapkes and had been a resident of the area for most of her life. Mrs. Venema worked 7 ½ years for Ottawa County Circuit Court before retiring in 1983. She had also worked 9 years for Hackley Hospital in the Admitting Department. Mrs. Venema was a charter member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and belonged to the Friendship Circle. For many years she belonged to the Greater Muskegon Women’s Club. She also loved to read and travel. On August 30, 1940 she married Clarence B. Venema in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1990. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Pat (Earl) Lewis of Fruitport, James (Carolyn) Venema of Holland, Gary (Brenda) Venema of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Burton (Mary) Tjapkes of Gainesville, FL. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda in 1949, a great-grandson, Nathan Knoll in 1993, and by 3 brothers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Ron Nyenhuis officiating. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery.
